Watching the 'Black Panther' trailer was inspiring. Watching it makes us here at Afro-Pick.com feel the weight of the damage that has been done to black people around the world. This afro-futuristic vision is one that is seldom seen anywhere. Proud black people who have mastered and are in fact advanced in science and technology situated in an entire civilization that both embraces its African roots while at the same time giving us a glimpse of what could have been had not colonialism, slavery, apartheid, political corruption, war, famine and various other ills derailed the forward progress of entire countries. Oh. The inspiring part. The inspiring part is that the idea of Wakanda is still something to strive towards and accomplish. A black nation that can serve as an example of what an African superpower could look like. Unlike the comic book and movie Wakanda however, a real world version should not be hidden and shrouded in mystery. It should be a beacon to intellectuals throughout the African diaspora and be a home for leaders among us who believe that a new age is coming where those who have been at the bottom will rise to the top. This is why we hope the 'Black Panther' movie is successful at inspiring within us a determination to make the concept of Wakanda a reality. Not just a city, but a movement towards being a technologically advanced African diasporic culture. See the trailer below: Be sure to register and join this forum!
